Research Analyst

Shivali Joshi joins CAPS as a research analyst working with Wayne Steward and Emily Arnold on HIV policy projects. Shivali's background includes a degree in biology and anthropology from Claremont McKenna College, where she engaged in HIV education and advocacy work with incarcerated populations. This led her to an interest in health access and policy, and she went on to pursue a Master's in Global Health at UCSF. Her master's research focused on HIV prevention amongst the sex-worker community in Uganda, where she utilized qualitative research methods. Shivali worked as a course assistant for the Global Health Master’s Program during the past year, teaching research methods and epidemiology courses. This further deepened her interest in qualitative research methodology to better understand health access concerns amongst vulnerable populations.
