Diversity

The Division of Prevention Science acknowledges and honors the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, gender expression, ability, socioeconomic status, cultural orientation, national origin, and age.

  • We commit ourselves to create and maintain an environment that respects diverse traditions, heritages, and the spectrum of experiences that define our collective humanity. This commitment requires that we create, promote, and maintain activities and research that advance our understanding and knowledge of individual and group diversity.
  • We aim for our work and research to contribute towards transforming our society into one that promotes social justice and freedom from oppression, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, ageism, and ableism.
  • We also commit to developing and communicating policies and promoting values that discourage intolerance or discrimination and foster acceptance. We are a place of inquiry and learning where intellectual freedom, privacy, and confidentiality are respected and protected.
