Emerson Shiang

Emerson Shiang joins DPS as the Project Coordinator on the Aging Study under PI Jesus Ramirez-Valles. The Aging Study, guided by stress process, social integration, and stigma theories, will assess the relationships among health, stigma, structural racism and discrimination, resources, and biomarkers of health and aging in older gay men across ethno-racial groups and HIV status. Among other things, Emerson will manage community engagement, recruitment, and interviewing. Emerson teaches yoga as a side gig, and has a wide array of interests including noodles, Real Housewives, Beyonce’s Renaissance, swimming, BDSM theory and culture, anime, Ocean Vuong, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Haribo gummy bears.
