Postdoctoral Fellow

Michelle Nakphong, PhD (she/her) is joining DPS as a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Black Economic Equity Movement (BEEM) study led by Sheri Lippman and Marguerita Lightfoot and funded by NIH.

The BEEM study will explore the financial, physical, and emotional health impacts of guaranteed income and financial capability training on low-income black youth (age 18-24) in San Francisco and Oakland. Michelle completed her PhD in Community Health Sciences at UCLA; her research focuses on how exclusionary policies impact the health of marginalized communities. Prior to her degree, Michelle worked with low-income, urban communities in Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Bangkok as a community organizer and youth worker.
