Congrats to the Saberi Team for launching a new community research group: the CAPS Youth Advisory Panel or YAP!
On Wednesday, September 20, 2017 – Dr. Parya Saberi, Xavier Erguera, Kristin Ming, and Dominique Legnitto (aka The Saberi Team) launched a new community research group – the CAPS Youth Advisory Panel (YAP). The YAP brings together a diverse group of young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 living in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is modeled after the highly successful CAPS Community Advisory Board. The mission of the YAP is to provide youth input and feedback to CAPS scientists working with this population, to alert CAPS scientist of pressing youth community issues and topics in HIV treatment and prevention, and to assist CAPS scientists in effectively disseminating important research findings to a youth audience. Our goal is to create a forum where young people can contribute and become more involved in on-going health research and receive training for professional development. We’d like to thank Bob Siedle-Khan, who helped in recruiting YAP members, and Barbara Green-Ajufo and Daryl Mangosing, who shared their expertise in working with the CAPS/PRC CAB.
