South African men who have sex with men reported that condom failure was expected knowledge of condom-lubricant compatibility was rare

Researchers interviewed black men who have sex with men in South African townships about their condom use and lubrication practices. They found that awareness around using condoms to have safer anal sex was common. However, condom problems were found to be a norm, particularly with expectations of condom failure.
