Offering a Child Savings Account to AIDS-orphaned adolescents in Uganda improved education outcomes

Researchers wanted to find out if offering a matched Child Savings Account (CSA) improved school attendance, school grades, and self-esteem among AIDS-orphaned adolescents in Uganda. They found that CSA led to better educational outcomes, lower levels of hopelessness, and higher levels of self-concept after 24 months. (T. Neilands, CAPS faculty)
