CAPS/PRC Town Hall presents:  United Voices Community Choir  Spring 2022 Virtual Performance

Directors and Producers of the United Voices Community Choir,

Zoom Meeting with Video Streaming of United Voices Performance

 

The United Voices Project is a group-singing intervention to enhance psychosocial wellbeing among people with HIV 50 years or older. The pilot project is funded by an R21 high-risk, high-reward grant from the National Institute on Aging to Principal Investigator Dr. Judy Tan. This is one of two virtual concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic, directed by Drs. Steven Roberts and Mark Wilson, and produced by Rusty Watson and Paul Daniels.

 United Voices Producers and Directors:

 Paul Daniels (he/him), Music Producer

Paul Daniels is a Bay Area producer, singer and songwriter. He is also the Assistant Conductor for the (OIGC) Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choirs (encompassing the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Oakland Interfaith Youth Choir and the Oakland Interfaith Community Choir). 

 Steven Roberts (he/him), Choir Director

Steven Roberts has been an ambassador of gospel music for more than 40 years. He has been a gospel music clinician in most states in the U.S. and has traveled to many countries around the world sharing gospel music with people of every nationality. He is the recipient of more than 150 awards including: 6-keys to cities, 23-Northern California Gospel Academy Awards, 4 congressional recognitions plus many others. 

 Rusty Watson (he/him), Music Producer

Rusty Watson is known for his work as vocal director with Bishop Walter Hawkins’ Love Center Choir and for penning For My Good on the choir’s Grammy nominated Love Alive V disc. In addition to his work as vocal director, Watson’s credentials include a long standing career as background vocalist with the who’s who of the music industry including New Kids On the Block, Natalie Cole, Stephanie Mills, BeBe Winans and the late Reverend Daryl Coley.  

 Doniel Mark Wilson, Ph.D. (he/him), Choir Director

D. Mark Wilson is a Continuing Lecturer in the Music Department of University of California at Berkeley, where he conducts the UC Berkeley Gospel Chorus. He is an African American clergyperson ordained in the American Baptist Churches, USA. Pastor Mark, as he is affectionately known to church members, is the Bay Area’s first African American Baptist pastor to come out as a gay man in a Bay Area African American Baptist Church and to be welcomed and embraced by the church’s membership.
