Asians and Pacific Islanders (APIs) are one of the fastest growing ethnic populations in the United States.1 It is projected that by 2050, APIs together will comprise 8% of the total US population, or 34 million persons.1,2 Asians and Pacific Islanders are extremely diverse and represent 49 different ethnic groups and over 100 languages. APIs include Chinese, Filipinos, Koreans, Hawaiians, Indians, Japanese, Samoans and Vietnamese, among other groups.
