Michael Duke is a medical and psychiatric anthropologist whose work focuses on the physical and mental health of working class immigrant populations, particularly Latinx and Pacific Islanders. In particular, his multidisciplinary, mixed method work seeks to uncover the processes through which drug and alcohol use, working conditions, stress, structural vulnerability, discrimination, and notions of personhood impact the mental and physical well-being of immigrants, their families, and their communities.
